Raw Vegan Peanut Butter Cacao Fudge

Mouth Melties - No baking, no fuss, delicious

Mouth Melties
Peanut Butter Cacao Fudge

A Fast Silky Delish Treat. No baking. No fuss. Just blend, chill, slice and serve.

Creamy peanut butter ripple with rich coconut oil peanut butter fudge. Hints of banana, maple and cinnamon too. Crunchy raw cacao nibs on top and a thin layer of soft hemp seeds as the crust.

Makes about 9 squares

  • 1 cup + 1 Tbsp unrefined coconut oil, virgin organic cold-pressed (measure at room temperature state - fluffy form, not melted)
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter, organic salted at room temperature (or warm to soften)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp salt (dash)

Crust: 1/4 - 1/2 cup organic hemp seeds (available health food shops) OR combine the hemp with ground almonds if you want a thicker more solid crust.

Topping:

  • 1-2 heaped Tbsp creamy peanut butter, add a little water and mix into a liquidy drizzle-able state
  • 1-2 tbsp raw cacao nibs

Directions:

1. Add all the ingredients to a blender (high speed works best.)
2. Blend until smooth and creamy.
3. Spread (crust) hemp seeds over bottom of a deep square glass dish ( approx,. 18cm or a bit bigger).
4. Pour the blended mixture over the top of the hemp seeds.
5. Drizzle the peanut butter topping over the mixture. Swirl it with a toothpick to make a pretty design if you want. Sprinkle the cacao nibs over top.
6. Place dish in freezer for about 15-20 minutes - or until the center of the mixture has firmed - enough to slice into bars. This may take longer or shorter depending on how thick your bars are. If you are not serving the bars for a few hours you can just store the bars in the fridge.

Sound Healing Tibetan Singing Bowls

Dr. Mitchell Gaynor has been using sound, including Tibetan Singing Bowls and Chanting in his work with cancer patients for many years.

Tibetan Singing Bowls have been used for centuries for healing, chanting and meditation purposes. They create a range of sounds to restore the normal vibratory frequencies of diseased and out-of-harmony parts of the body and mind.

The sounds generated by Tibetan Singing Bowls are a type of energy medicine that promote healing from stress disorders, pain, depression, and most forms of dis-ease. Unique tones create the perfect state for deep meditation.

Chanting and Tibetan singing bowls are the perfect combination for Sound healing therapy, holistically supporting the health of body, mind & spirit.

Serenity Meditation - Beginners classes

Hi Yoga blog fans

I thought I would share this with you today.. wouldn't it be awesome if there were more peace and serenity in this world :)

Through out the centuries, the fountain of youth has been the 'Quest' for many, so too self realisation, wisdom, peace, truth, serenity.

In this particular AGE the practice of Mantra Yoga meditation is far more effective than other spiritual paths, like meditation on the white light or Brahman effulgence OR trying to control the life air and raise the kundalini to the top of the head as in raja yoga. Very few can perfect this process. Therefore the most effective means of focusing our attention is to concentrate on the sound vibration of a mantra.

Although a vast science, the practice for peace, serenity, true inner happiness lies in a beautifully simple process. If you would like to investigate further check out our Timetables and come along to class. All teachers are certified and hold diplomas in Yoga Meditation classes, so you will be in very capable caring hands.

Here are those links. Have a lovely relaxing day, come see us soon.

How to become more compassionate - Meditation

Hi Yoga fans

Compassion is a much valued human quality. Have a read below and see for yourself how being compassionate can benefit health. Beneath this post click on the link to our Timetables. You will find classes that you can attend, all of which will help you become a more caring and compassionate person through yoga meditation. Meditation classes are FREE ..!

Scientific research into the measurable benefits of compassion is young. Preliminary findings suggest, however, that being compassionate can improve health, well-being, and relationships.
Compassion makes us feel good: Compassionate action (e.g., giving to charity) activates pleasure circuts in the brain. Producing feelings of happiness.

Being compassionate—tuning in to other people in a kind and loving manner—can reduce risk of heart disease by boosting the positive effects of the Vagus Nerve, which helps to slow our heart rate.

Brain scans during meditation, which directs compassion toward suffering, suggest that, on average, compassionate people’s minds wander less about what has gone wrong in their lives, or might go wrong in the future; as a result, they’re happier.

Compassion helps make caring parents: Brain scans show that when people experience compassion, their brains activate in neural systems known to support parental nurturance and other caregiving behaviors.

Compassion helps make better spouses: Compassionate people are more optimistic and supportive when communicating with others.

Compassion helps make better friends. Feeling compassion for one person makes us less vindictive toward others.

Restraining feelings of compassion chips away at our commitment to moral principles.

Employees who receive more compassion in their workplace see themselves, their co-workers, and their organization in a more positive light, report feeling more positive and are more committed to their jobs.

More compassionate societies—those that take care of their most vulnerable members, assist other nations in need, and have children who perform more acts of kindness—are the happier ones.

Compassionate people are more socially adept, making them less vulnerable to loneliness; loneliness has been shown to cause stress and harm the immune system.

    Kirtan for health and happiness

When a group of two or more get together to sing Yoga mantras this is traditionally known as the practice of Kirtan. This is an ancient Yoga practice which is highly recommended especially in this day and age for the specific purpose of achieving Self-realization.

Kirtan is simple, enjoyable and available to all. There are no hard and fast rules, no previous experience is required. It is a non-sectarian application which involves sacred sound, prayers, or hymns - the sweet and joyous practice of placing ones attention on the spiritual sound of yoga meditations. Authentic singing meditation embraces or encompasses the names of the Supreme, pure, spiritual sound vibrations.

Singing is a powerful mood changer, as well as a gentle cardio workout, this in and of itself will help you feel really good. We recommend the regular practice of sing a long meditation to everyone Why? Simply because we are spiritual in essence (the meditations are also spiritual) so it makes sense to tank up or fill up spiritually when ever there is an opportunity to do so.

Come over anytime, relax your heart and mind and fully immerse yourself in transcendental soulful meditation

    Dear friends

This world with all of it's temporary material sense pleasures has nothing substantial to offer the eternal spiritual person (us)

There is no real, long lasting, true, or meaningful happiness for the soul in this finite world.

However, meditating on spiritual sound is a perfect fit for us, we are spiritual individuals who are residing temporarily in the earthly body. Why is it a perfect fit? We are spiritual in essence, therefore sacred sound meditation makes for perfect synergy, bringing forth the experience of deep peace, satisfaction, happiness and joy.

Bliss is natural for the soul, this is what we want, what we hope for and what we spend our life time searching for.

All of this we can uncover gradually over time through the practice of mantra meditation.

May peace and harmony be your constant companions

Sound Healing Therapy - Tibetan Singing Bowls

Howdy guys, have any of you heard about Sound Healing Therapy? This is another new class YMSPB is offering at YMC in Coolangatta.

Dr. Mitchell Gaynor has been using sound, including Tibetan Singing Bowls and Chanting in his work with cancer patients for many years. Dr. David Simon, found that the sound from Tibetan Singing Bowls are chemically metabolized into ’endogenous opiates’, that act on the body as internal painkillers and healing agents.

The sonic waves that ring from Tibetan Singing Bowls wake up our ability to hear with more than our ears. We feel the sound from the Tibetan Singing Bowls as much as we take it in with our ears.
Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.”
Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine, the Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York.

In fact, mainstream medical teaching facilities like Duke University and the University of North Carolina have added programs that link body, mind and spirit to the treatment of cancer. Cancer prevention centers are utilizing sound as a vital part of the healing process for patients with astounding results.

Chanting and Tibetan singing bowls are the perfect combination for Sound healing therapy, holistically supporting the health of body, mind & spirit.

Tongue in cheek - Yoga for young and mature yogis and yoginis

    Hi Yogis & Yoginis

Time to 'Get on your mat' shake off those extra holiday kilo's and get into shape.

As you well know,Yoga has become all the rage, just check the junk mail and you just might find an endless array of fliers from the numerous Yoga Studio's sprouting up willy nilly in your local area.

You can find entire clothing lines especially for yoginis  and for some yoga devotees, an entire lifestyle.

What's the magic behind this discipline of poses and controlled breathing? Is yoga truly a beneficial form of exercise?
Yoga can, in fact, be good for adults of all ages, especially seniors. Studies have shown that yoga can be extremely helpful when it comes to combating stress, fatigue and pain. Some yoga poses increase core strength and balance, which reduces the risk of fall-related injuries for seniors. Other poses can alleviate health issues such as menopause. Above all, yoga is a form of exercise that can help seniors feel younger.
Even though you may never be able to bend yourself into a pretzel, learning some simple yoga poses can improve your overall quality of life. If you're just starting out, look for a beginning class taught by a certified yoga instructor. Good instructors will help you with correct body positioning and encourage you to learn your body's limits. You may not able to perform all the poses or hold them for very long, but good teachers understand that and encourage you to do your best.
I will include some links for you to click through to a couple of Yoga studios we highly recommend. They have wonderful yoga instructors, highly trained in the hatha style of yoga. Pop along and see them, you will be in safe hands.

    A description of the Soul

    The Atomic Soul

Recently I read a very beautiful and clear description of the soul, sometimes referred to as atma, spirit, atomic soul, etc,. I thought it to be an absolute treasure and decided I would share a couple of excerpts with you.

"The soul is atomic in size and can be perceived by perfect intelligence. This atomic soul is floating in the five kinds of air [prana, apana, vyana, samana and udana], is situated within the heart, and spreads its influence all over the body of the embodied living entities. When the soul is purified from the contamination of the five kinds of material air, its spiritual influence is exhibited."

The hatha-yoga system is meant for controlling the five kinds of air encircling the pure soul by different kinds of sitting postures—not for any material profit, but for liberation of the minute soul from the entanglement of the material atmosphere.

The influence of the atomic soul can be spread all over a particular body. According to the Yoga texts this atomic soul is situated in the heart of every living entity.

The individual atomic soul is definitely there in the heart along with the Supersoul, and thus all the energies of bodily movement are emanating from this part of the body. The corpuscles which carry the oxygen from the lungs gather energy from the soul. When the soul passes away from this position, activity of the blood, generating fusion, ceases. Medical science accepts the importance of the red corpuscles, but it cannot ascertain that the source of the energy is the soul. Medical science, however, does admit that the heart is the seat of all energies of the body.

    Food for thought.

Benefits of Chlorophyll in our diet

This article is a little long, but very interesting and helpful.
Chlorophyll absorbs energy from the sun and facilitates photosynthesis in plants. Its unique ability to convert the energy of the sun through photosynthesis is used to make carbohydrates from water and carbon dioxide.
No one can argue with the health benefits of green vegetables which have high concentrations of chlorophyll .Another characteristic of chlorophyll is that it is quite similar to human red blood cells or heme. We have heard about the scientific description of chlorophyll, but there are other interesting facts to know in order to understand completely the biological relationship between chlorophyll and heme.
    The Chlorophyll and the Heme
The chlorophyll molecules have similarity to human blood. The only difference is that the central atom in human is iron, while it is magnesium that is the central molecules of plants.
The groundbreaking research was revealed as early as 1926 by Charles Schnabels when he studied about cereal grasses and the possible relationship of the component of pheophytin in chlorophyll and the hemoglobin of human. After that remarkable discovery, there were subsequent researches conducted to variety of animals for further confirmation on the claim. All the findings drew one conclusion: that chlorophyll acts like a physiological stimulant of the red blood cells in the bone marrow.
It was in 1936 when Dr. Arthur Patek reported the fascinating results from the study done with fifteen patients who were diagnosed of anemia. They were asked to take different amounts of green foods along with iron. The level of blood hemoglobin and the number of red blood cells increased faster than with taking iron alone. Therefore, based on the irrefutable reports, the chemical perspective of chlorophyll is similar to the chemical structure of red blood cells.
    The Green Color of Chlorophyll
Have you wondered why green is the color associated with chlorophyll and not red or orange? The magnesium which is the central molecule of chlorophyll contains special ring shaped formation which captures wavelengths of light but green is not captured. So, the overall effect of green color is reflected back to our eye. The magnesium provides high alkalizing effect on the body that delivers essential oxygen to body tissues and cells.
Changes in Chemical Structure of Chlorophyll
Please take note that when green vegetables are cooked, the magnesium is removed from the center of the molecules and replaced by a hydrogen atom causing some vegetables to turn olive-gray in color.
Let’s take for example the studies conducted to broccoli. The two thirds of the chlorophyll content of broccoli were removed after 20 minutes of boiling. The World’s Healthiest Cooking suggested technique in preserving the concentrations of chlorophyll present in green vegetables through short steaming times. Nevertheless, the best way to eat these vegetables is in raw form to obtain the complete health benefits of chlorophyll.
    Benefits of Chlorophyll
Green foods are considered blood-building foods because of the similarity in structures of the two colored pigments, the red heme and the green chlorophyll. Here are the lists of health benefits we can get from chlorophyll.
    1. Chlorophyll is the best aid in gastrointestinal problems.
Refined, low fiber and animal fats contribute to major diseases start in the colon. Gastrointestinal problems can be best treated by improving the digestion and assimilation. Among those natural nutrients that heal the intestinal track, green vegetables high in chlorophyll content aid in loosening and cleansing the colon.
    2. Chlorophyll Promotes formation of hemoglobin and red blood cells.
Hemoglobin is the iron-containing substance that provides red blood cells their red pigment and transports oxygen to the body tissues. In fact, we may not realize it but our blood is composed of 75% of hemoglobin. If the central atom of blood is iron, how does chlorophyll help in the formation of red blood cells? As we digest green food, the magnesium helps in rebuilding and replenishing the red blood cells which is responsible for boosting our energy.
    3. Chlorophyll treats bad breath.
Bad breath is caused by oral bacteria that resides in a person’s mouth that excrete odiferous waste products. The sulfur compounds of waste products usually lie at the root of breath odor problems. With the double action of chlorophyll, it acts as a deodorizer that eliminates bad odor and reduces the stringent smell of urine and infected wounds.
    4. Detoxify toxins that cause cancer.
Researches found that the damaged genes caused by carcinogen substances can be prevented by chlorophyllin, a derivative of chlorophyll wherein the magnesium is removed and replaced with copper. It reduces the binding of carcinogen from foods like cooked meat products that damage the DNA and other organs of the body particularly the liver.
    5. Beneficial in assimilating calcium and other heavy minerals.
Chlorophyll is very easy to absorb and assimilate. It is so amazing how it gets into the bloodstream so fast with the least amount of digestion that saves more vital energy. Not only that, cataract cases which is same as an arthritic formation, the hard calcium has come out of solution and becomes milky so that patients cannot see clearly with their cataract condition. Again, chlorophyll can assimilate calcium and balance other trace minerals to rebuild, replace, and exchange with the new tissue.
    6. Chlorophyll fights infections.
It is the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds contain Vitamin A, C and E that are responsible for reducing inflammation. In connection to this, the healing aspects of chlorophyll were reported in 1940 by Dr. Benjamin Gruskin. With this vitro experiments, it showed that chlorophyll possess bacteriostic property that kill harmful bacteria. Moreover, the antiseptic properties of chlorophyll have the ability to kill germs by strengthening the tissues.

Gauranga Meditation - How to practice this meditation and experience the benefits

    Gauranga Meditation

When you go along to a Yoga class you will find that not only do you get to stretch, breathe, build strength and stamina, twist, detox, rejuvenate, practise concentration, determination and have lots of fun. You also get to practise relaxation and meditation.

At our yoga meditation studio we practise a lot of different yoga meditations. We also practise a few different meditation techniques which all have a very harmonising effect on whom ever takes part in the practise BUT generally when combining meditation with hatha yoga we keep it simple.

The Yoga sound Gaur ra an ga which is very easily pronounced in 4 syllables as shown above is one of the primary meditations we teach. Gaur ra an ga means Golden One, so some call this the Golden One Meditation.

The meditations, prayers, or mantras taught at our Yoga meditation studio are all spiritual meditations. This means that the meditations are NOT combinations of ordinary material sounds BUT are exactly what the phrase says 'spiritual meditations' meaning that they descend from the spiritual realm, bringing with them spiritual potency.

How amazing is that. I think that is so cool. All we have to do is plug into the
Gaur ra an ga meditation and experience the rejuvenating and soothing affects of Transcendental sound or spiritual sound for ourselves.

It is such a simple and enjoyable way of meditating and comes with all the associated benefits such as clarity of thought, peacefulness, relaxation, rejuvenation, happiness, stress reduction, and so on and so forth.

This is a timeless process which has been gifted to humanity by the wonderful self realised souls who once walked this planet and those who are still with us today, if not in person - via their words.

Come along and learn more. Life is an amazing gift, extremely precious, find out how we can make the most of ours.

We look forward to meeting and practising yoga and meditation with you.

    Namaste
