Tongue in cheek - Yoga for young and mature yogis and yoginis

Hi Yogis & Yoginis

Time to 'Get on your mat' shake off those extra holiday kilo's and get into shape.

As you well know,Yoga has become all the rage, just check the junk mail and you just might find an endless array of fliers from the numerous Yoga Studio's sprouting up willy nilly in your local area.

You can find entire clothing lines especially for yoginis  and for some yoga devotees, an entire lifestyle.

What's the magic behind this discipline of poses and controlled breathing? Is yoga truly a beneficial form of exercise?
Yoga can, in fact, be good for adults of all ages, especially seniors. Studies have shown that yoga can be extremely helpful when it comes to combating stress, fatigue and pain. Some yoga poses increase core strength and balance, which reduces the risk of fall-related injuries for seniors. Other poses can alleviate health issues such as menopause. Above all, yoga is a form of exercise that can help seniors feel younger.
Even though you may never be able to bend yourself into a pretzel, learning some simple yoga poses can improve your overall quality of life. If you're just starting out, look for a beginning class taught by a certified yoga instructor. Good instructors will help you with correct body positioning and encourage you to learn your body's limits. You may not able to perform all the poses or hold them for very long, but good teachers understand that and encourage you to do your best.
I will include some links for you to click through to a couple of Yoga studios we highly recommend. They have wonderful yoga instructors, highly trained in the hatha style of yoga. Pop along and see them, you will be in safe hands.
